6th grade spelling

Spelling for week of 12/7

Spelling packets and spelling essays due Wednesday (with a parent signature). Spelling test on Friday.

Spelling essay:
2 paragraph creative writing using at least 5 spelling words. They can use more than 5 if desired, but not less. They will be graded on spelling, complete sentences, proper word casing, punctuation, and indenting. They must circle each spelling word they have used and include 5 sentences for each paragraph.

6th grade spelling

Spelling for week of 11/16

It is no longer required for the students to write their words 5x each, though I encourage the students to continue to do so. Instead, every week the students must write a 2 paragraph creative writing essay using at least 5 spelling words. They can use more than 5 if desired, but not less. They will be graded on spelling, complete sentences, proper word casing, punctuation, and indenting. They must circle each spelling word they have used and include 5 sentences for each paragraph. We have reviewed this format and assignment thoroughly. The students have already completed a few writings, so they are familiar with what is expected. This writing assignment is due every Wednesday with spelling packet.

6th grade Science

As previously posted yesterday, students will be having a science test on Thursday. We reviewed yesterday and today. Students were given examples of EVERY question on the test. They also were told EXACTLY what to study and where to find the information. Students were also given notes to copy in order to assist them with studying. Studying is encouraged at home, however, they will be given one more class day tomorrow to study the following:

Definitions of: sodium, empty calories and nutrition

The My Plate Diagram, all 5 food groups and examples of each group

What U.S.D.A stands for

Simple vs. Complex carbohydrates and examples

Unsaturated vs. Saturated fats and examples

Food energy chain, all categories and examples of each group
